What is Mother of Pearl? Mother of pearl is the natural lined crystals of calcium carbonate on sea shells, producing iridescent colors when reflecting light. Sea shell crafting has been popular in Asia since 932-1392.

What is Hanji? Hanji is the use of mulberry tree paper for arts and crafting.

How is it Made? An unfinished fiberboard box is painted, then covered in mulberry paper. A mother of pearl sheet design is secured on the box and smoothed. Several coats of lacquer are applied, and the box is dried to a glossy finish.
